Super Bowl (and Candied Bacon)

Candied Bacon

Is there anything else better than bacon? Yes, I tell you, yes there is, it’s called: Candied Bacon. And if you’re getting fancy this Super Bowl Sunday, this is the kind of Bacon you want to be having. No one is going to remember who won, they’re just going to see this, and ask you to bring it year after year, because, who can say no to bacon?

The addition of whiskey and cayenne pepper just makes this adult beverage accompaniment that much more incredible.

Line 2 sheet pans with foil, then put a oven-safe cooling rack on each. After cutting a pound of thick cut bacon in half, lay out bacon on rack.

Throw all of the ingredients into the food processor and blend for a minute. The mixture should be the consistency of paste. Using your fingers, or the back of a spoon, smear a thin layer on the bacon.

Seriously, don’t even bother trying to make it perfect, it doesn’t matter. Once you pop it in the oven, it’s going to mix with that delicious bacon fat and evenly distribute. Look at that, food that fixes its own imperfections.

Pop in the oven at 375 degrees for 40-50 minutes. Let it cool well, then let your guests gobble it up, that is, if you don’t eat it all before making it to the table.

enjoy!
